The North West will be receiving around €1.2 billion for the 2007-2013 European ‘Competitiveness and Employment’ Programme.
The current European Structural Funds Programming period ends in 2006; the new programming period will run from 2007-2013. The UK will continue to receive significant European Funding with some €9.4billion of funding anticipated, of which €5.3billion will be available for the Competitiveness and Employment Objective.
I think it’s interesting and may be useful.
There are difficulties:
First, relationship between “Competitiveness and Employment” and “Quitting the sex work” is indirect. Failing to find an appropriate job other than sex work is not the main reason for most sex workers entering this industry in Greater Manchester.
Second, more than half sex workers in Greater Manchester have been to high school and more about 20% of them went to colleges or higher. They may be skilled. Improving their competitive doesn’t necessarily lead to quitting the job.
Third, this programme will not be interested in sex workers since they already are workers and making money, even more than most Ph.D students *_*
“The National Framework (NSRF) for European Funding sets out two main priorities for spending ESF in England for the 2007-2013 Programme:
extending employment opportunities by helping unemployed, inactive and disadvantaged people to improve their employability and skills; and
developing a skilled and adaptable workforce, with a particular focus on people who lack basic skills and level 2 qualifications. ”
